Who is the Programme For?
The EdD seeks to equip students to understand the diverse kinds of research they may encounter in the course of their professional activities and to carry out various types of research in different areas of work over the duration of their career as an educator.
The degree is normally undertaken by those employed as teachers or by other professionals working in an educational context.
The EdD allows students to work as part of a cohort during the assessed courses.
The first two courses introduce students to the different approaches taken to research in Education.
The third and fourth courses focus on the relationship of research and policy at national and school level, and on the conduct and impact of research within schools.
These four courses collectively equip students with a broad understanding of research in the field of education. Students can draw on the taught comopnent to conduct an individual piece of research for the dissertation making a substantial contribution to professional knowledge and demonstrating originality.
