UK Energy Research Centre

UK Energy Research Centre

The UK Energy Research Centre (UKERC) is a ‘virtual’ research centre comprising a focal point for UK research on sustainable energy. It takes a whole systems approach, drawing on engineering, economics and physical, environmental and social sciences. Dr Jillian Anable is transport and aviation topic coordinator within the Demand Reduction theme of UKERC. She works closely with colleagues at the Environmental Change Institute at Oxford University.

Project outputs include:

Low carbon transport futures: a scenario exercise using the UK Transport Carbon Model to understand the potential impact of packages of transport policies on carbon reduction targets.

Dr Anable has been involved in the development of the UK Transport Carbon Model. This is a newly developed strategic transport, energy, emissions and environmental impacts model, covering a range of transport-energy-environment issues from socio-economic and policy influences on energy demand reduction through to lifecycle carbon emissions and external costs.

UKERC Energy 2050 - a project across all themes in the UKERC to develop alternative pathways to a low carbon future using lifestyle scenario planning.
