Research Approval Process
All applications to the CRF are initially assessed by the CRF Clinical Facilities Manager for feasibility. If there are any concerns regarding the practicalities of conducting the research these will be raised at this time. All projects submitted to the CRF are assessed by the CRF Management Group which meets monthly and includes senior academic members of staff from within both the University of Aberdeen and NHS Grampian.
Once the Management Group has considered your application, you will be notified in writing (within 10 working days) to confirm if the research proposal has been accepted or declined for execution within the CRF.
An application should be made to the CRF before the study has been submitted to the appropriate ethics committee (local or multi-centre). The CRFv application form should be accompanied with a copy of the ethics and R & D submissions.
Studies which have already been granted ethical approval and/or funding can still apply to use the CRF. In this case, the application form should be accompanied by a copy of the ethics approval and grant award letters.
