Biography: Son of John Clarke; born Aberdeen, 14 December 1883. Arts, 1900-04. War work-British Red Cross, Egypt, March-June 1915. Captain, Egyptian Labour Corps, 20 August 1915. Served-Gallipoli, August-December 1915; Suez, 1916; Palestine, 1917-19. Final rank, Major. O.B.E. Order of the Nile, 4th Class. Two mentions in despatches.
