Mansfield, Cyril James

Regiment: Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, Royal Navy

Biography: Son of Edward Mansfield ; born Highnam, Gloucester, 19 June 1861 ; graduated M.B., 1883 ; M.D.,1896. Mansfield entered the Royal Navy as Surgeon, 20 August 1885, and throughout his career received excellent reports from all the officers under whom he served. He held many important posts, among others that of Senior Medical Officer in charge, R.N. College, Osborne, 1905-09, and Senior Medical Officer in charge of training ship H.M.S. "Impregnable", 1911 -13. He was made M.V.O., 9 August 1909, and promoted Deputy Surgeon-General, 27 September 1913. From 1915 onwards General Mansfield served at the R.N. Hospital, Haslar, and died there 7 May 1916.

Burial Details: Buried at Haslar Naval Cemetery, Hampshire, Plot B, Row 2, Grave 2.
