Biography: Son of J. Crombie Brown; born Haddington, 20 February 1842. M.A. (M.C.), 1860; M.D., CM. (Hons.), 1863; F.R.C.S. (Eng.), 1878; B.Sc. (Ed.), 1878. War work—M.O., Cape Town Free Dispensary (whole time service), September 1917-August 1919.
