Bowie, James Alexander

Biography: Son of William Bowie; born Aberdeen, 30 November 1888. M.A. (II Ment.), 1914, (II. Economic Science), 1915. War work - Voluntary Investigator into Unemployment under Board of Trade, 1914. Gunner, North Scottish, Royal Garrison Artillery, March 1916; commissioned, 3 February 1917. Served - Home, 1916-17; Egypt, Palestine, Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, September 1917-February 1919. Took part in capture of Jerusalem, February 1918; pursuit of Bulgarians, September 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant.
