Biography: Son of James Black; born Elgin, 30 April 1868. M.A. (II Math.), 1889. 2nd Lieutenant, 3rd Volunteer Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, 1889; Officer Commanding, 6th Seaforth Highlanders, 1913-September 1914. Mobilized. Raised 2/6th Seaforth Highlanders. In command 2/6th Seaforth Highlanders; 10th Works Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers; Labour Centre, Scottish Command. Presently in command 6th Seaforth Highlanders. Final rank, Lieutenant-Colonel. T.D. Mentioned in despatches, 1919.
