Biography: Son of Angus Bain; born Stornoway, 15 September 1890. M.B, 1913; Shepherd Memorial Gold Medal. Commissioned, R.A.M.C., 23 November 1914. Served - Home, 1914-15; France, May 1915-November 1917; Italy, November 1917-March 1918; France and Belgium, March 1918-December 1919. Final rank, Captain. Military Cross, June 1918. Mentioned in despatches, June 1919.
