Maitland, Robert Reid

Biography: Son of the late Harry Reid Maitland and Helen Maitland, Haddo, Methlick, Aberdeenshire ; born Methlick, 1918 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. In 1940 he graduated M.B., Ch.B. Joining the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1941, he was stationed for a time in Northern Ireland. For a short period he was at the War Office and then volunteered for the Paratroops, being posted to a Parachute Field Ambulance. Later he was transferred to the headquarters of the Sixth Airborne Division. Going into action in Normandy on D- Day, he met his death on the following day.
