Biography: Son of William and Annie McLaren, Moss Street, Keith ; born Keith, 11 June 1919 ; educated at Keith Grammar School. He began an Arts course at the University and took a prominent part in athletics. Volunteering for the Royal Air Force, he was sent to America for training, returning to this country in 1942 and becoming qualified as a navigator. He was on his twenty-ninth operational flight with Bomber Command when he was shot down and killed over Germany on 31 August 1943. He is buried at Eindhoven in Holland.
