Mackie, John

Biography: Son of John and Agnes Mackie, Hill of Balvack, Monymusk ; born Tillyfourie, Aberdeenshire, July 1923 ; educated at Kemnay Secondary School and Inverurie Academy. He was for a year in the Arts course at the University. He volunteered for the Royal Air Force and was sent to train in Canada. It was during subsequent Pathfinder training in this country that he lost his life, his plane being reported missing on air exercises over the Irish Sea in February 1945.
