Biography: Son of James and Margaret Lawrie, Brownhill, Kemnay ; born Kemnay, 22 March 1914 ; educated at Kemnay Secondary School. He graduated M.A. in 1937 and then went to the F.M.S. as assistant on a rubber estate. Caught up by the war, he served as an Engineer in the Federated Malayan Reserve. In the course of the fighting he was severely wounded and died in the Singapore Military Hospital on 22 February 1942.
