Hastings, Adam Byers

Biography: Son of David Hastings, Heaton, Bradford ; born Bradford, 1918 ; educated at Belle Vue High School, Bradford. In 1939 he graduated M.A. at the University with Honours in English and then spent a year at the Training Centre. He joined the Army, but later volunteered for the Royal Air Force and was commissioned in 1942. He began operational flying in August, and on 4 September he was reported missing and presumed killed.
