Glennie, Harry William

Biography: Son of William Glennie and of Elsie Glennie (nee Arkless), formerly manager of Aberdeen Employment Exchange ; born London, 1923 ; educated at Cardiff High and Aberdeen Grammar Schools. For a time he studied medicine at Aberdeen and Edinburgh Universities. In 1942 he joined the Royal Artillery and was commissioned in the following year. In 1944 he was transferred to the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders. On 11 July 1944 he was killed in action at Columbelles near Caen while serving with the 51st Division.
