Girdwood, Richard Ogilvie

Biography: Son of the late George Girdwood, Bon-Accord Terrace, Aberdeen; born Aberdeen, 16 June 1896 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. In the course of the first world war he served in France with the Royal Engineers. In 1923 he graduated M.B., Ch.B., and then spent some time on insulin research. Later he held several appointments as pathologist, and in 1937 was selected by the Liverpool City Council to be pathologist to three hospitals. This post he held till 1941 when he received severe injuries during an air raid on the city. As a result of these he died on 22 June 1942.
