Fraser, Harry Alexander

Biography: Son of Harry and Jessie Fraser, The Croft, Nethybridge; born Nethybridge, 30 December 1914 ; educated at Grantown Grammar School. In 1936 he graduated B.Sc. (Eng.) with First Class Honours, and later became an organizing officer under the Government of Malaya. When Japan entered the war, he joined the Royal Air Force. After the fall of Singapore he escaped to Java, but was captured there by the Japanese and sent to work at the building of an airfield on an island north of New Guinea. Here he died of diphtheria under conditions of great hardship on 6 July 1943.
