Fiddes, John

Biography: Son of Dr. John Douglas Fiddes and Jessie Fiddes, Hutton, Essex ; born 1915 ; educated at Aberdeen Grammar School. At the University he took a prominent part in dramatic work before graduating M.B., Ch.B. in 1938. He became house physician at the Prince of Wales' Hospital and later at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, taking the Diploma of Child Health at the Royal College of Surgeons. In 1940 he joined the Royal Air Force and served in various stations in this country. On Christmas Day 1943 he was reported missing on a flight from Wick to Iceland.
