Biography: Son of Alexander L. Metcalfe; born Aberdeen, 31 May 1887. M.A. (II Math.), 1911. Private, 3rd Gordon Highlanders, May 1917. Cadet, xx O.C.B. ; commissioned, 10 September 1918. Served-Home, 1917-18; France (6th Seaforth Highlanders), 1918. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
