Campbell, Iain Douglas Sutherland

Biography: Son of John and Jane Sutherland Campbell, Harrow, Middlesex; born London, 18 April 1906 ; educated at Merchant Taylors' School, London. He graduated B.Sc. (Agr.) at the University in 1930, and later took a course in entomology at the Imperial College of Science. He joined the London Scottish in 1940 and two years later was posted to the Middle East. After serving in Iraq and Palestine he took part in the invasion of Sicily and Italy. He was wounded and sent to hospital, but was soon back with his regiment and then met his death in action near Pesaro in Italy on 9 September 1944.
