Buchan, Alastair William

Biography: Son of Councillor George Buchan and Janetta W. M. Buchan, of Fraserburgh ; born Fraserburgh, 1922 ; educated at Fraserburgh Academy and Robert Gordon's College. He began his medical course at the University, but volunteered for the Royal Air Force on reaching the required age. He became a Pilot Officer in 1941. On his first operational flight as second-in-command in March 1942 he was reported missing and presumed killed in action.
