Mobilized, August 1914. Attached to 1/39th Garhwal Rifles, Meerut Stationary Hospital, No. 9 General, Indian General, Hospital, Meerut Division. Served-France, Mesopotamia, India, August 1914-end of War. Mentioned in despatches, 1916. Brevet-Lieutenant-Colonel (for services), 1919.
