Biography: Son of James Mackie; born Mortlach, Banffshire, 23 February 1882. M.A., 1904; B.Sc. (Agr.), 1910. Joined 6th Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 1897; U Company, Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders, 1902-03. 2nd Lieutenant, 4th Seaforth Highlanders, May 1915. Served-France, July 1915-February 1919. Final rank, Acting Captain.
