Biography: Son of Donald MacDonald; born Stornoway, 18 January 1879. Arts, 1900-04. Volunteered, November 1915; called up, Nyasaland Volunteer Reserves, 29 May 1916; attached to North Field Force; commissioned, 1 August 1918. Served-German East Africa, 1916-17; Portuguese East Africa, January - September 1918; Nyasaland, October 1918-January 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant. Meritorious Service Medal, January 1918. Mentioned in despatches.
