Biography: Son of John MacDiarmid; born Aberdeen, 22 May 1876. M.A., 1896; Batchelor of Law (distinction), 1899. Commissioned, Army Service Corps (Highland Division), 1908. Re-joined as Captain, 28 November 1914. Served-Home, November 1914-17 ; Salonika, Palestine, Egypt, January 1917-May 1919. Final rank, Captain.
