Biography: Son of John McBain; born Rathen, 28 November 1885. M.A., 1908. Joined U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders. Commissioned, 5th Scottish Rifles (Supply Company), 18 November 1914; transferred to Royal Army Chaplains' Department, Served-U.K., 1914-15; France, 1915-16. Final rank, Chaplain.
