Biography: Son of William Lipp; born Elgin, 18 September 1890. M.A., 1910; B.Sc. (Agriculture), 1911. Private, Australian Infantry, August 1915; transferred to Australian Artillery; commissioned, October 1916. Served-France, Belgium, 1915-19. Final rank, Acting Captain. Military Cross, May 1917.
