Biography: Son of James A. Dykes; born Calcutta, 5 June 1896. Science, 1913-14. Enlisted, 2/1st Highland Cyclist Brigade, March 1915; commissioned, 5th Scottish Rifles, July 1915. Served-Home, 1915-16, 1917-18; France, June-November 1916. Final rank, Lieutenant.
