Biography: Son of Henry Lyon, manager, Aberdeen. Born Aberdeen, 2 February 1893; educated Gordon's College, and the University, where he matriculated in 1912. He studied in Arts for two years, with the intention of proceeding to Medicine. He was a student of fine promise and also took a prominent part in sports both at school and the University. In September 1914 he enlisted in the 4th Gordon Highlanders and went with the Battalion to France as a member of the Machine Gun Section. He proved himself of much value, and carried out all his duties quietly and efficiently, showing himself to be the true sportsman, whose qualities could endure a sterner test than that of the playing field. He was killed in action at Hooge, 16 June 1915.
