Biography: Born Aberdeen, 19 October 1887. M.A. (I Eng.), 1910. Joined U Company, 4th Gordon Highlanders. Cadet, Gordon Highlanders, June 1916; 2nd Lieutenant, November 1916; attached to 3rd, 8/10th, Gordon Highlanders, 44th T.M. Battery. Served-Home, 1916-17 ; France, February 1917-March 1918; Prisoner of War, March-November 1918. Final rank, Captain.
