Biography: Son of John W. Kemp; born Mortlach, Banffshire, 22 June 1887. M.A., 1909 ; B.Sc. (Agr.), 1912. Gunner, Royal Garrison Artillery, July 1916. Served-Home (Anti-aircraft), 1916-18; Gibraltar (garrison duty), 1918-19. Final rank, Gunner.
