Biography: Son of A. B. Joiner; born New Deer, 18 February 1894. M.A., 1915. A.U.O.T.C. Enlisted, Royal Navy, Auxiliary S.B. Reserve, February 1916; commissioned, September 1917. Served-Naval Hospitals, Chatham, Plymouth, Granton, 1916-17; H.M.S. ""Mandate"" (on Atlantic Convoy duty), 1917-18. Final rank, Temporary Surgeon-Sub-Lieutenant.
