Biography: Son of Joseph Johnston; born Aberdeen, 3 June 1874. M.A. (I CIass), 1894. War work-Y.M.C.A., France, Flanders, 4 months, 1915. Captain, Royal Army Chaplains' Department, 7 October 1915 ; attached to 6th King's Own Scottish Borderers, 9th Scottish Rifles, 10th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Served-France, Flanders, 2 years. Final rank, C.F. (Captain). Mentioned in despatches, June 1917.
