Biography: Son of Alexander Johnston; born Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire, 1 December 1889. M.A., 1912. Lance Corporal, 84th Territorial Reserve Battalion, 1916 (formerly in 29th Northumberland Fusiliers and Ross Battery, H.M.B.).
