Biography: Son of Alexander Irons; born Kirkden, Forfarshire, 17 May 1891. M.A., 1919; B.Sc. (Agr.), 1919. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, 9 January 1915; commissioned, 30 May 1917; attached to 8th Black Watch; transferred to 16th Machine Gun Corps. Served-Home, 2 years; France, 2 years. Final rank, Lieutenant.
