Hymers College, Hull. 2nd Lieutenant, 2nd Northumbrian Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force), 21 January 1915 ; attached Y/63 Trench Mortar Battery, 223 Brigade. Royal Field Artillery. Served-Home, 1915-16; France, July 1916-June 1917. Wounded. Final rank, Lieutenant.
