Biography: Son of William Grant; born Mortlach, Banffshire, 25 September 1865. M.A. (II Classics), 1887; Seafield Latin Medal; Black Latin Prize; LL.B. (dist.), Edinburgh, 1892. Commissioned, 14th Highland Light Infantry, 6 January 1915. Served-France, U.K., November 1915-November 1917. Resigned owing to ill-health. Final rank, Major. Died, Banff, 14 February 1919.
