Gillies, John Ernest
Biography: Son of John Gillies; born Speymouth, Morayshire, 30 April 1889. M.A. (I Classics), 1911. Private, Rangoon Volunteer Rifles, September 1914; Upper Burma Battalion I.D.F. Commissioned, I.A.R., 1918; attached to Queen Victoria's Own Sappers and Miners. Served-India, 1914-March 1919. Final rank, 2nd Lieutenant.
