Biography: Son of James Gill; born Aberdeen, 1894. Science, 1911-13. Trooper, Scottish Horse, 1911. Mobilized, 4 August 1914. Commissioned, 14 March 1915; transferred to 4th Gordon Highlanders; attached to 5th Cavalry Reserves; 7th Dragoon Guards. Served-Home, August 1914-March 1916; France, March 1916-May 1918. Final rank, Lieutenant.
