Biography: Son of John Cumming ; born Boyndie, Banffshire, 10 June 1880. M.A., 1904. Joined U Company, 1st Volunteer Battalion Gordon Highlanders. Gunner, Royal Garrison Artillery, November 1915 ; commissioned, December 1916. Served- Home, 1915-17; France, Belgium, May 1917-April 1919 ; Army of the Rhine, April-September 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant.
