Biography: Son of William Cranston.; born Edinkillie, Morayshire, 9 February 1891. M.A., 1912. Private, 4th Gordon Highlanders, September 1914; commissioned, September 1917. Served with Royal Engineers. Home, 1914-15 ; Flanders, March-May 1915. Wounded. France, Germany, May 1916-April 1919. Final rank, Lieutenant. M.B.E. (Military).
