Biography

Either: Composer and organist. Born Newcastle 1763. Studied organ and composition at Newcastle. Invited to take up the post of organist at St Paul's Episcopal Church, Aberdeen, 1783. Compositions published 1790, also published a keyboard tutor and a collection of Scots airs. Remained in this post til 1836. Died 1837, Aberdeen. Or: Of Mayne. M.A., King's Coll., 1790. Procurator at King's Coll., 1793, 1797, 1798, 1807. Or: Professor of Hebrew, King's Coll., 1767. Demitted 1790.
