Ross, Alexander

Biography: Church of England clergyman and writer on philosophy. Registered as a student at Marischal College in 1609. Subsequently he graduated D.D. A voluminous and controversalist writer, Ross is best known for his Pansebeia, or, A View of all the Religions in the World, and Mystagogus poeticus; or, The Muses Interpreter.. He is said to have been appointed master of Southampton Grammar School, and chaplain to Charles I. His bequests included monies to Aberdeen Town Council, Marischal College, the poor of Southampton, the Bodleian Library and the Library of Cambridge University.
