Born in Menteith, ed. Grammar School in Callander then Univ. Of Glasgow, missionary for Church of Scotland to Western Isles 1780, published Travels in the Western Hebrides, A Defence of the Scots Highlanders, and General View of the Fishery of Great Britain.
