Research is of vital importance to the College of Arts and Social Sciences.  In the most recent national research assessment (REF 2014), all 14 submissions from CASS contained activity rated as world leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).  English Language & Literature was rated 2nd in the UK for outstanding research performance (4* and 3* research ratings combined), and the impact of the research conducted in Business & Management Studies and in History was rated 2nd in the UK.
