Graduates of the MBChB programme are invited to join the Career Mentoring Programme - Medicine Stream to provide invaluable advice and support to current 4th year MBChB students. You may be at any stage of your career from FY2 onwards and working in any medical specialism.
Since the Career Mentoring Programme was launched in 2011 by the University of Aberdeen Careers Service and Alumni Relations team the programme has grown in popularity and scope. We are delighted to work with the University of Aberdeen Medical School to launch a dedicated Medicne stream to accompany the existing General, Engineering, Law and Bioscience Research streams.
Previous experience of mentoring is not necessary; rather good communication skills and a non-judgemental manner. The role of a career mentor, and the commitment involved is outlined on Mentor Role handout. The frequently asked questions page provides answers to many of the questions that have already been asked about the programme by other graduates.
Mentoring will take place over a 6-month period from mid-June to December. Mentors and Mentees are expected to spend 1-2 hours per month engaged in teh mentoring process. Mentoring can take place in person or virtually via email or Skpye.
Registration is now open via the online registration form.
