MLitt Museum Studies

As part of their dissertation students undertake a 20 day placement in a museum or gallery. The placement element normally takes place in June but is is possible to spread the 20 days over a longer period. The placement should allow the student to focus on an agreed project. Student are encouraged to take part in as many activities as possible while on placement with the aim of gaining an insight into a variety of museum work. They should also seek to find out as much as possible about the background to the museum, its history, aims and organisation. Students are encouraged to build good relationships with museum/gallery staff.


MLitt Professional Communication

Students can undertake projects that deal with marketing, communications or advertising. Students from the MSc Professional Communication programme are equipped with skills to build on internal and external communication and are capable of working on the development of social networking strategies and broader marketing strategies for organisations.
