Why did you get involved with the STAR Award?aw

I first got involved with the Star Award after a colleague had attended a workshop with the Careers Service about designing effective work experience placement programmes back in 2015.  I enjoyed the experience greatly and was keen to get involved when I was subsequently asked to get involved with the Star Award programme.

What are the benefits of the STAR Award to you?

As a Training Manager, I am able to use my involvement in the Star Award programme to help the next generation of students identify and build the skills they need to excel in the workplace, something I wish had been available to me when I was at University.  I have found the experience of delivering seminars and the Star Award Assessment process personally very rewarding; it is wonderful to see bright young students getting involved in things outside of their academic studies and gain additional experience which will be invaluable for them when they move into working full time.

It has helped us to foster closer links with the University Careers Service, something which will hopefully help us find bright young graduates who are interested in working in our field.
