Prayer, Deus qui in cruce.

A prayer to God asking that, as he did not desert his mother when he caused his disciple John to take his place as her son, we who share her suffering may receive the reward of eternal life.

Oracio.

Deus qui in cruce positus beate et inte\merate virginis Marie curam non deser\uisti dum dilectum discipulum beatum Iohannem alterum ei filium subrogasti concede\ propicius ut qui tibi et tue compatimur genitrici\ intimato tue mortis divorcio nobiscum leti vite\ valeamus eterne mereri mercedem. Qui vivis.

Hymn, Planxit virgo paupercula.

A hymn invoking the grief of the Virgin Mary when, seeing her son crowned with thorns and hearing the cries, Crucify him, she followed him, filled with distress and fearless of the cruel people as they cried out for her son’s crucifixion.
