The three winning films from Gregor Ksiazek, Bálint Danyi and Erwan Elias were screened at the Friends meeting last night.
The prize winners Gregor Ksiazek, Bálint Danyi and Erwan Elias each received £100. Gregor also has an opportunity of a day with Tern TV making Beechgrove Garden and Bálint, half a day with SHMU, Station House Media Unit.
The films were judged by a panel comprising Gwyneth Hardy TernTV, Mark Paterson Curator of Cruickshank Botanic Garden, David Kinnear plant sciences student, Rikki Gutcher University of Aberdeen video services manager and Brian Woodcock Station House Media Unit. Short-listed film entries were ranked on their ability to evoke emotion, present the plant collection, the botany, creativity, story, originality and technical execution. Gwynwth said "There was real joy and appreciation in most of the entries. Clearly they picked the very few days of sunshine this season to film. There was a happy feel to all of them. ” The winning entry was “seamlessly shot and edited well. Complete story and feeling conveyed. We get the idea immediately.”
